Readers? I still have readers?
As I assumed practically nobody had noticed, I haven't updated this thing since the middle of last month. The radio show (10 a.m. to noon on KBZZ, 1270AM) is kicking my butt, taking three or four hours of preparation every day, and by the time I get done with that and a couple of other things including the Reno News & Review column, I've said about all I have to say.
I started blogging for fun (there's certainly no money in it) and to stay in touch with readers. It really never occurred to me that anyone would read it regularly, but I'd been writing for a long time and wasn't sure how to stop: It just felt weird not to sit down and do 500 words or so every day. When I let it slide, I wasn't sure anyone would notice and was pretty sure no one would care.
A few people, at least, do. They've written or called or stopped me in the supermarket and said they miss the Gazette-Journal column, can't listen to the radio show and would like to see more frequent posts on the blog.
I'm no more immune to flattery than the next guy, and I'm getting the show prep under control. It's down to 1:1 now, one hour of prep for every hour on the air. If I can keep it there, and I have something to say that's not too tedious, I'll pick up the pace here over the next few days.
But you could listen to the radio, you know....

I was preparing a "Rest in Peace" entry about your blog for my blog. I guess I'll leave it as a draft for now.
Can't get KBZZ in Lake Placid, NY. You're nationwide, Cory.
No, I can't get the radio, not at the workplace. Besides, I am a reader, not a listener.
I check daily, hoping you will post something else. I am disapointed when you don't, but I do consider it a gift when you do. Thanks for each time you post a column.
I am pretty sure we do not get KBZZ in Vancouver,WA and have been waiting for more posts.Even ff we got KBZZ it can't be on at work
Keep pounding that keyboard, Cory. We RGJ readers miss the old curmudgeon's rants.
KBZZ needs to stream on the internet. Like Lake Placid and Vancouver I can't get you in Minneapolis. Maybe you need to syndicate your show nationally? We need an alternative to the Limbaugh wannabees on talk radio. I do and have read your work since you started and when I lived in Reno. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for your blog. We can't get KBZZ in Yerington @ our work place. We enjoy your mild bit of sanity in this crazy world. Keep up the good work!
I have started listening to you radio show and I enjoy it very much. However, I still check your blog daily ebcasue I enjoy your writing style as much as I enjoy your thoughts on current events. Like other readers I do not expect a post but I do enjoy reading them when you find time. Peace,
Cory - Even with modern technology, I can't get your radio show here on the Isle of Man. I really enjoy your "every day life" columns rather than the political, so please, please, please continue with your blog. Thanks in anticipation.
Actually there is money in it if you can attract the right audience.

I would enjoy listening to you on the radio for a couple of hours a day but the signal does not reach beautiful downtown Tonopah, Nevada. The internet would be an option if the station wants to do that. Being the only non-Republican in town, I may be the only one listening but give it a try.
Welcome back, Cory. I've missed reading your posts. I do read your column in the Reno News and Review, but the more there is the better. I enjoy your writing.
Please keep writing. KBZZ's signal is pretty weak here in Massachusetts.
I like to read your stuff. I tried the radio. I will again, but I can't beleave how many comercials thay air.
I've been checking for your new post a couple of times each week and look forward to them when you can squeeze them into your schedule. You always make me think. The lovely thing about your blog is that I can check on my time frame, which is usually late at night or early early AM. I work during your radio cast. I do catch your RN&R, but I'm always hungry for more! Hope you keep this blog up.
Yes, I too have missed the blog. Radio, as well as TV, air way too many commercials. Hence the written word wins out everytime!
Cannot catch your radio show much. I do not know what I had expected but your voice was way different, more deep and manly than I thought. Don't know why though!
I'll continue to catch your blog. Good luck on the radio show.

I'm glad you're back... I've been checking your blog once or twice a week, but no updates! Sigh...
It seems you are an internantional phenomenon.
I'd love to be able to hear your radio show here in Phoenix, Cory, if only your radio station had a webcast. In the mean time, your blog, News Review columns, and AutoWeek columns continue to give me comfort that there is common sense in the world.
Thank goodness you're back. We don't get KBZZ over here in Scotland. No pressure, but it's a rotten start to my day when there's no CF blog to read, just as it was when it wasn't one of your days at RGJ.
Hi Cory,
Glad you're back.
Please keep writing. Some of us exhibit our crotchetiness by reading rather than listening.
I subscribe to blogs through Bloglines, an RSS feed aggregator. It tattles. You blog, it tells me and I read you, which is more than I can say for when you wrote for the Rag. Won't be catching the radio unless you podcast it - look forward to your next blog, as always.
No KBZZ in Hawai'i either, please keep blogging -- often. Aloha.
I'm not as far away as others, but there's quite a few of us in Bishop, CA that followed you here from the RGJ.
Maybe a live stream on the radio?
Be sure to let us all know when KBZZ finally starts streaming you on its Website, willya?
But don't let the radio gig substitute for your writing. I've loved it ever since you first wandered into the REG/NSJ newsroom 30-some years ago (before they became the RG-J), brightening the place considerably.
OK, so now, get back to work -- and I mean WRITING.
I see I am in good company here in Pioneer, CA, awaiting your next post. Always enjoy your willingness to say what needs to be said, Cory.
You're my favorite blog here in Sandusky, OH. Please don't go "Art Bell" on us. You are foremost, a writer.
Glad you're still there, Cory. I don't listen to radio, either.
If you're interested, you can put some invisible code into your blog and find out how big your audience is and where your readers are located, anywhere in the world.
Go to http://statcounter.com. I've used it; it's good and it's free. Once you register your blog, they provide a piece of code you can insert in the blog template (between the /body and /html tags at the bottom is a good place).
Then you'll be able to see how many people miss you when you don't post.
Cory, your fans have spread out. Here in Las Vegas, I can only get my Cory-fix from your blog & Autoweek.
Cory,
guess your ill attempts at misleading people and pushing your un-educated opinions have finally saw an end.
R.I.P. Cory's blog, looks like America has a chance after all.
OOOOOhhh my G*#...I was hoping you were done with your with R'& R'. Now you are still on the radio too..???? When will it end. We already have Boxer, Reid, Pelosi, and now Obama. Cory, give all of us a break, and let the rest of the bleading hearts continue preaching what you can't think up on your own.
